About This Game

Race into the Chaotic & Ridiculous.

This game is a reflection of the 1990's era super cars and the arcade video games about them. It has meticulously hand drawn tracks with pixel art vehicles to give an overall sense of vitality and beauty. Despite the objective to smash as much as you possibly can while you race overpowered sports machines.

New Track Added: Montezuma! @ 17/06/2025

Montezuma Gifs:

Irreverent & Makeshift Race Tracks.

Choose from several tracks, with destructible environments such as: shopping centres, national geological treasure caves, farmlands, mining sites, jungle and dirt roads, multiple railway crossings, china shops, active volcanoes and even an Amazoom warehouse.

Driving your Aventora Supercar through a mini-mall with other racers.

An active open-pit mine site.

Underground driving cutaway-view of a crystal cavern being aggressively, toured.

Wide dirt roads with exploding tyre walls (when struck).

Delivery parcel arrived late? Now you know why. Driving through a packaging warehouse was never as fun as it is now.

B - R - A - K - E ! ! ! Or be Slammed! That's 400 tonnes of locomotive and carriages passing through!

Hectic, Frantic, Difficult.

There are 3 levels of difficulty, and 8 tracks (New track just added) to play and unlock. Do note, Gold level will require all your nous, reflexes and ability to drive competently. Or, better yet, 'recklessly, aggressively stupid and diabolically evil'. Draw no quarter, win at any cost!

Levels and Expert Tracks unlock from 'Race Wins' and 'Season Calendar Positions'.

Roots.

A reference to the Game: Supercars 1 & 2 on the Amiga, this could be considered a remake with more hand drawn, hand painted artwork with enhanced destructible environments and increased difficulty.

Overall.

A thrillingly fast, top-down 2d racer that blends lovingly detailed scenery with wanton destruction.

NOTE for Newbies!!

The Car is arcade control, it swivels on it's centre point, It has no reverse gear. If you hit a wall front on, let go of the accelerator (use brakes) and twist.
Practice makes perfect, and if you feel you're not driving well enough, zoom in, it helps a tonne. Good Luck! :D

Special Tips.

Do note: You're racing in the 'most' tricked-out version of the Aventora (highest tier), so it won't handle like a slow, dinky 80's Mazda, it's as powerful as it gets.

[I had to compromise for this prototype. Too slow and everyone is bored, too fast and it's unplayable.]

If you are not used to top-downs, it will take a little while to get your reactions and brain synced up to the rotations and handling. But it will happen. Then, Speed-Fever will set in. Sorry in advance, there is no cure for that. :P

[The real game will have you starting in the stripped out, slowest version, for parts to be equipped.]

Now technical help. Drafting is super enhanced, very, very handy for Gold Level. (Be aware, NPC's will do the same to you.)
Learn to Powerslide/Brake around sharp hairpins, and other tight corners. (Not only does it look cool, it'll cut seconds off your lap time.)
Don't fret if you're in 20th place after 4 laps on Gold Level. When the cars separate out, just wind 'em in.
Always grind NPC's into wall corners, heh!

Bug Issues: (FIXED @ 25/05/2025) If you miss road sections, and/or, re-drive (go reverse-wise) through the starting gate, it will de-register you from the track. Just 'Escape' out.

PLEASE NOTE: It's a Prototype (!)

Special Notes: (Because I'm allowed to write this here, unlike on Steam) :P

Skidding isn't exactly right, you'll notice it more on the volcano level due to slippery plants vs it's hard track surface when not on them. There's no sideways inertia or damping kickback programmed in yet either.

NPC's slide, pop and squeeze due to Godot's rudimentary 2d physics. And unknowingly, evil, evil floats (were used for time storage, so rarely, ‘best times’ are occasionally dropped(inherent bad comparison of floats)). It’s a rabbit hole that will be replaced in the full version.

Some of the remnants of items won't display, due to Godot 'basic graphic' limitations. The Rendering Server is designed to handle that, but, it's lacking comprehensive documentation right now. <- I want this to be perfect in the full game. [My brute-force testing hasn't quite got it right.]

Also: Repair and Upgrade Garage, Destroying Road Objects for Cash, Wheel-Of-Fortune-Mini-Game, Car Purchasing will be added to the Full Game, along with 50 (Planned) super tracks (specially themed). With a few raceway circuits thrown in for good measure. Click the [What’s Coming] button in the game start menu to see the upcoming pictures/functions/cars.

Just be aware, the Full Game will only be produced if there’s a reason to. Wishlists are the guide. If enough people like it, then I’ll commit to it. Good to note, I’m a speed coder and speed artist, so it’ll be done fast to the same standards above. Some might know, I was building a super-scale roguelike, but had to transfer to Godot to make it. This test game above was only for learning, but all the testers got hooked on it (So did I). And well, you know, it’s a bucket of fun to plough through a fully stocked Seven Eleven in a Supercar.

So, have a race, let your favourite rev-head, sports-car, muscle-car and speed-demon friends know. Tell them to wishlist too. :P

And thanks for playing! Rock ON!

Awesome racing game in "Super Cars" style with smooth scrolling and excellent controls. Joypad and windowed mode support would be very desirable for the final version. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 03:46:53. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Thank you, nice job! Remind me, never to get in a supercar with the first driver. Lol. :D  2nd driver was doing very well! Ok, windowed mode is easy to add in Godot, I'll be adding controller support to the real game too.

I also wishlisted it, let's go with full game!!!!

I'm impressed, even bigger thankyou! :D

Doesn't work here in Windows 10. Will have another try soon. Any plans for an Raspberry Pi build?

Hi Retro, that's odd. I built the game on a very, 'very' low tier Windows 10 machine. Do you have a working graphics card? Ie, Updated the driver, that's the first thing to check, then a reboot. Apple Yes, Linux maybe, but not for this prototype.

Allrighty! I only have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620, pretty old, but that driver is the latest available. Any additional software necessary, like Visual C++ or Net Framework?

(1 edit)

Oh boy! It looks like it's the Vulkan Driver in Godot. Here's a Google Response. "While the GT 620 is an older, entry-level card, some users on the Godot GitHub have reported some performance issues, particularly with Vulkan, suggesting that the card might not have the best Vulkan driver support."

From the Godot site: "Looking on the Nvidia forums, the GT 720M is not Vulkan compatible (Nvidia had plans to support Vulkan on it, but they were dropped 6 years ago)." (That's 9 years now) <- That would be a newer card wouldn't it.

Kind of annoying isn't it. I'm using the latest Godot, version 4.4. So it looks like it's a no-go for the age of that card.

You can find the GPU compatibility here: https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/about/system_requirements.html

I think that means any game built in Godot 4.4 onwards might not run on your card . :<

Hey Corso, ok Vulkan is not available. Not a real prob. I plan to upgrade to Windows 11 in the near future and around this time a new gfx card will enter my system as well. So, I thank you for the info and good luck with that awesome stuff mate.

No probs. Certainly give this game a try when you get your new rig. :D
